Excuse The Art (ETA) is a works-in-progress series presented by The Windmill Arts Center in partnership with Fly on a Wall. The series highlights works-in-progress by the artists of Fly on a Wall as well as selected artists from the metro Atlanta area.
“For an independent artist, ETA takes the guesswork out of finding resources and making space for process. I’m thrilled to be bringing my own artistic visions to life, but also to connect with other creatives and nurture collective art making with my community. Fly on a Wall has stood beside me every step of the way, providing me with the tools to create for the moment and dream for the future; in this way especially, ETA is invaluable.” Scott Wheet, 2021 ETA Artist.
The second annual Excuse The Art is being reimagined this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead of being in the black box theater at the Windmill Arts Center, the performances will happen inside the white box, with the audience watching from the parking lot.
“We are excited by the idea of using the white box like a large shadow box. Not only is it safer, it’s also an interesting approach to making work.” Sean Nguyen-Hilton, Fly on a Wall.
The 2021 ETA artists were selected through an open call for submissions which was reviewed by a diverse panel of artists and educators. Leading up to the four night series, the 2021 ETA artists will develop their work at The Windmill Arts Center and engage in peer feedback.
